The whys about the name choices

Lilly is Charles' paternal grandmother and Novella is my paternal grandmother.

Annabelle is Charles' mother's name (she passed away in 2003).

Abigail was just a name Charles picked out...
Amelia...Charles has always liked and it is in my mom's side of the family (but I tend to think it is too similar to my own name)...

Auden was a name I picked out....

Mix and match how you will...I can't guarantte that any of them is what we'll end up with in the end. It is just a fun thing for people to do!!

Just wanted to point out that Amelia is on our maternal side because Amelia Earhart was second cousin to our great-grandmother, Pauline Challis (Rodman Hoye's mother). She and Amelia grew up in Atchison, Kansas together. Pauline was the more prim and proper while Amelia was the wild tomboy. I did a book report once on Amelia once and found Pauline mentioned in the book I was reading. Amelia was on my list of girl's names because of that but it just never worked out. I think it's actually kind of neat that it is similar to your name, although you might have to get used to a nickname like Milly -- ooh, which rhymes with Lilly. I think Auden is beautiful and unique, by the way. I just looked it up and saw that it is Old English for "old friend".

Isn't Auden cool? yeah. I liked the meaning and the name and I thought it went well with Novella since alot of the other girl names ended with "uh" sounds, this one was different.

I also really liked Eva, but again the ending "uh" sound. Eva means "life." I thought it was appropriate.

And I liked Ada (Adelaide, Adelle) too, but again the ending "uh" sound. Ada means "noble, serene" and is german in origin which is some of Charles' heritage.

Aha! Now the name choices make sense. I guess I like Anna Novella the best.
But, as Georgia pointed out, you don't really use the middle name and it stays hidden for the most part, so it doesn't really matter, I guess.

Another thing about names..
When I was pregnant with Kirsten (and we didn't know the sex), we picked out Bjorn for a boy's name. Since John and I were both Scandinavian; and Bjorn Borg was a star at that time; and Bjorn meant 'bear' which was John's 4-wheeling 'handle', it all sounded great.
At MY baby shower, all the guests all around, somebody asked me what names we had picked out. Kirsten, for a girl, and Bjorn for a boy. My sister in law shrieked. BJORN!? That's horrible she said. Somebody is sure to call him URINE! Nobody liked the name. Well, as it turned out, we had a girl. But I guess I thought what difference did it make? WE liked the name Bjorn. And really, that's all that matters is that you and Charles do. :)

I couldn't agree more. Lucian was by far the least popular name in all the polling we did but he totally lives up to the name and people complement it all the time, I think because there is an actual face and personality to the name. And, yes, the middle name stays hidden but I think it does take on a secret meaning for each of us. Elena loves her secret special middle name (Josephine) that not everyone knows and she knows that it links her to her family (Adrian's grandmother - a very feisty, strong lady). In fact, she asked for an American Doll for Christmas that was named Josefina just because of it. I've always had a soft spot for Ada/Adelaide, by the way. Sounds like a colorful quilt billowing on a clothesline on a Kansas prairie with wild daisies everywhere. I'm not sure where that came from!
